Last night was very emotional for me as it marked the end of an era. It was Derek Jeter's last home game as the shortstop for the NY Yankees. I've grown up with baseball. It is one of my greatest loves and passion. I was born & raised in NY and I grew up rooting for the NY Yankees & the NY Mets as my dad took me to tons of games for both teams. Derek Jeter has been playing shortstop for the Yankees since I saw my first game at Yankee Stadium as a young girl. For 20 years, I've watched him play in person and on TV. He is the epitome of class, grace, and dignity. He is a true legend and an absolutely incredible athlete. Starting my love of baseball as a young girl, Derek Jeter, was one of the first players I started to follow. Derek Jeter was a captain and a leader. Every time he ran up those clubhouse steps and stepped onto the field jogging to his shortstop position, he played his heart out. I got goosebumps watching him play. He will be sorely missed by the Yankees fans and the Yankees organization. There are simply no words to describe what Derek Jeter has done for the game of baseball. He is in a class of his own.
Thank you, Derek Jeter, for the memories! Farewell, Captain!

I still can't believe it! I'm so sad, but last night's game was absolutely incredible! What a way to go out :-D
ReplyDeleteIt definitely was. It was another clutch performance by the Captain. It was an incredible way to go out. Hollywood couldn't have scripted it any better.
