Here are the books I read in April:
The Housemaid -Freida McFadden
My Rating: 4 stars
This novel was so great. It was a really great thriller with lots of twists and turns. This is the first Freida McFadden novel I've read and I definitely want to read more of her novels in the future.
The Housemaid's Secret -Freida McFadden
My Rating: 4 stars
This is the second novel in the Housemaid series and I loved it just as much as I loved the first novel. I really like this author's style of writing.
Heartstopper: Volume 5 -Alice Oseman
My Rating: 3 stars
I was in Barnes & Noble and decided to sit in the café and read this novel. I don't like to buy graphic novels because I read them in one day and I don't find myself wanting to re-read them. Unfortunately, there's a lot of graphic novels I want to read but my library doesn't have a lot of them. I need to make a list of the ones I want to read and the next time I'm at the bookstore and have time on my hands, I can see if they have them and sit in the café for a while and read them. I did read the graphic novel Pumpkinheads a few years ago and I would like to buy that one because I would re-read that one and I think it would be a fun one to re-read every fall/Halloween time.
The Housemaid is Watching -Freida McFadden
My Rating: 4 stars
This is the third and final novel in the Housemaid series. I loved this one as much as I loved the other two. I really loved this series and I also loved the movie based on the first book.
We're a Bad Idea, Right? -K.L. Walther
My Rating: 5 stars
K.L. Walther is one of my favorite young adult authors. This is her latest release and she is also coming out with a new book tomorrow and I'm so excited. I have it pre-ordered and it recently shipped out to me. I loved this novel so much. K.L. Walther's writing is so good and if you haven't read her novels yet and YA is a genre you love, I highly recommend reading her books.
Just a Busy Season: Essays on Motherhood, an Unexpected Comedy -Taylor Wolfe
My Rating: 5 stars
This is the second book from Taylor Wolfe. I've followed Taylor on IG and was an avid reader of her blog when she had it. I loved her first book and rated it 5 stars. One of the subjects it talked about is the passing of her beloved dog. When this subject was talked about, I could barely see the pages through my tears but I'm very glad I pushed through those parts because it was an amazing book and I would highly recommend it. This book, which Taylor very kindly sent to me after she posted on IG about wanting to send it out to some supporters/followers, was so good! There were so many funny moments in this book as well as such unique and touching stories. I will definitely buy and read any novel that Taylor writes. I don't know how to describe it, but her writing just feels so light-hearted and like you're reading a book that a good friend of yours' wrote.

Thanks so much for joining in! :] I've heard of The Housemaid but haven't had a chance to read it yet. I didn't know it was a series!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your recommendations -- We're a Bad Idea, Right? sounds like a good one! :]
Taylor sounds so sweet! <3 I may cry my brains out reading her first book too. :[ (I lost my cat almost 1 year ago and am definitely still not over it yet.)
Of course, thanks for hosting the link-up! I look forward to it every month. It is such a good series and I honestly wish there were more than 3 books.
DeleteYes, it's so good. K.L. Walther's second book of the year comes out today (it's called The Summer of Second Chances). I'm so excited, I have it pre-ordered and it should be here tomorrow.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my baby girl cat to cancer when she was 9 and today would be here 13th birthday. I miss her so very much and think about her everyday. They are our babies and their lost is felt so deeply.
Thank you for hosting and commenting.
I have yet to read any of Freida McFadden's books, but people love them!! My library doesn't carry them for some reason. Thanks for the reviews!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the comment! I don't know if you have a Kindle Unlimited subscription but if you do, a lot of Freida McFadden's books are free with that subscription on Kindle.
