Here are the books I read in February 2025:
The Rival
–Emma Lord
My Rating: 4 stars
Emma
Lord’s novels never disappoint. She knocks it out of the park in every novel
she writes. This story focused on two rivals who compete over academics and
pretty much everything else. Not only are they rivals but they have grown up
together because their parents are best friends. This novel focuses on the
start of their college journey and it’s a doozy. I highly recommend this book
and all of Emma Lord’s novels. If Goodreads had a half star system, I would
have rated it 4.5 stars.
Dinner
with Vampires: Life on a Cult TV Show –Bethany Joy Lenz
My Rating:
3 stars
I was really looking forward to this book as Bethany Joy Lenz is one of my favorite actresses (she was one of the stars of One Tree Hill which is one of my all-time favorite TV shows and she’s starred in a lot of Hallmark movies and some Lifetime movies that I love). So this book was a good read but not a favorite. Since the title mentions being on OTH, I thought there would be a lot about that but I was wrong and that made me really disappointed. She didn’t even start to talk about her time on OTH until like page 120 something (and it’s a 303 page book and that includes the acknowledgments section). It was definitely more about her time in a cult. It was interesting to read those parts but I didn’t know going into the book that her talking about her time in the cult would take up the majority of the book. She also didn’t talk about any of her experience acting in Hallmark movies. If you’re a fan of hers, I would still read this book.
Wicked
Serve (Beyond the Play #4) –Grace Reilly
My Rating:
4 stars
This is
the fourth and final book in the Beyond the Play series. I love this series so
much. This book focuses on the daughter in the Callahan family and her love
interest. It was such a good book. I also loved reading about the other members
of the Callahan family and their S/O’s that we’re featured in the first 3
books. Each book in the series focuses on a different sibling in the Callahan
family and their love interest as well as the sport each Callahan plays.
The Art of
Catching Feelings –Alicia Thompson
My Rating:
5 stars
I’m always very excited for a sports themed romance novel (bonus points if the sport is baseball). This book was so beautiful. I loved the relationship between the main characters. I also loved all of the baseball talk because baseball is my favorite sport and I’m obsessed with it. Even if you don’t like baseball, I still recommend this book because the story/romance is so good. This is my first 5 star read of the year.
